AI PATENTS FOR HIGH TECHNOLOGY APPLICATIONS

Patents involving Artificial Intelligence (“AI”) are becoming more prominent in filings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.  We have experience in filing method patents involving AI for industries large and small.  The advantageous ability of some systems allows for reduced human interaction on repetitive tasks, thereby driving costs down.

Artificial Intelligence can generally be characterized by four (4) different styles or types.  A first type is the reactive machine type where the artificial intelligence does not have an ability to learn from prior experiences.  These reactive machine types make decisions based on a current state of an environment.  A second type is a limited memory machine type.  The second type uses previous patterns to recognize and interpret a response.  Generally, these types of limited memory systems are used in speech identification.  A third type of AI is the “theory of the mind” type system.  This newer type of AI can recognize actions and make decisions based on those actions.  The third type may adapt to evolving situations to respond appropriately.  The fourth type of AI is the “self-aware” type, where decisions are based on desires and goals.  These systems can learn and improve themselves over time.  The learning can be through human interaction or may be preprogrammed.  These systems are more theoretical and are being quickly developed.

A vast amount of capabilities are possible with AI.  Image recognition, quick data retrieval and cost-efficient design comparisons can all be performed.  As the technology is still in its relative infancy, there is extraordinary growth potential with such systems.  We have been involved with AI systems for some of the leading names in the computing industry over the last six years.  If you wish to pursue a patent on such technologies in Texas, Houston or some other jurisdiction, we can help guide you in your efforts.
